Dr. Marquard Smith is Founder and Editor-in-Chief, journal of visual culture, and Founding Director (2009-2016) of the International Association for Visual Culture. Currently Marq is Programme Leader for the MA Museums & Galleries in Education in Art, Design & Museology at UCL Institute of Education and Professor of Artistic Research at Vilnius Academy of Arts, Lithuania. As a Curator, his recent exhibitions include 'Solitary Pleasures' (Freud Museum, 2018) and 'How to Construct a Time Machine' (MK Gallery, 2015). As an academic/scholar, Marq's published over 20 books, edited collections, and themed issues of journals including 'The Erotic Doll: A Modern Fetish' (Yale University Press), 'The Prosthetic Impulse' (The MIT Press), 'Visual Culture Studies: Interviews with Key Thinkers' (Sage), and the four-volume 'Visual Culture: Critical Concepts in Media and Cultural Studies' (Routledge).
